Dan Bowerson, Vice President, Energy and Environmental Policy, Alliance for Automotive Innovation

Dan has been with Auto Innovators since its inception and was previously with the Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers, which he joined in 2018. Based in the Auto Innovators Michigan office, Dan covers fuels and vehicle electrification topics, including fuel quality, low carbon fuels, EV battery lifecycle, and electric vehicle charging and hydrogen fueling infrastructure. Prior to joining the Alliance of Automobile Manufactures, he worked at all levels of the automotive industry from a supplier (Roush Industries) to an OEM (FCA) to a trade association (NGVAmerica). He holds a M.S. in engineering management from University of Michigan-Dearborn and a B.S. in mechanical engineering from Western Michigan University.

John Bozzella, President & CEO,
Alliance for Automotive Innovation

John Bozzella, a veteran auto industry executive, is president and CEO of the Alliance for Automotive Innovation (Auto Innovators). From 2014 until the establishment of Auto Innovators in January 2020, he served as president and CEO of the Association of Global Automakers, the trade association whose members included the U.S operations of international automobile and light-duty truck manufacturers that sold products in the United States. Previously, John served as a Senior Operating Executive for Cerberus Operations and Advisory Company, LLC, where he worked with the firm and its portfolio companies on a range of public policy and economic development matters. He served as Senior Vice President of External Affairs and Public Policy at Chrysler Group in 2009, and Vice President of External Affairs and Public Policy for Chrysler LLC from 2007 to 2009. In this capacity, he mobilized government support to significantly restructure Chrysler. At Chrysler, John worked closely with the federal government and other automakers on a substantially advanced technology vehicle loan program and on the development of new fuel economy standards. In addition, he worked with state governments to gain funding for restructuring, training, and development. From 2005 to 2007, John spent two years with DaimlerChrysler Corporation as Vice President of External Affairs and Public Policy for the Americas. John was with Ford Motor Company from 1994 to 2005 in positions in public policy, and government and community relations, and labor relations. Prior to joining the automotive industry, John served as New York City's director of state legislative affairs under Mayor David N. Dinkins. He began his career in public policy as the Director of Legislative and Political Action for the United Federation of Teachers. John is a graduate of Cornell University.

Mike Stanton, President & CEO,
National Automobile Dealers Association

Mike Stanton became NADA’s president & CEO on January 1, 2021. He previously served as NADA’s executive vice president and chief operating officer. Stanton has represented NADA and dealer interests for over 20 years in roles with the Industry Affairs Department and the NADA Used Car Guide. Stanton received a bachelor’s degree in political science from James Madison University and a MBA from Virginia Tech.

Steven Center, Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President, Kia America

Steven Center is the Chief Operating Officer & Executive Vice President for Kia America.  He oversees strategy and execution for Kia’s sales, service and marketing operations in the United States. Steven brings a wealth of experience to Kia, on both the retail and wholesale side of the business, including nearly 30 years of experience at Honda.  Most recently, he oversaw Honda’s four automobile regions in the U.S.  Additional responsibilities included Honda and Acura market representation, sales and production planning, certified pre-owned sales, dealer communication, product and sales information, as well as export sales and distribution. Steven earned a Master of Business Administration from University of Southern California and a Bachelor Degree in Economics and Business Administration-Finance from State University of New York Albany.

Morgan Crapps, Director of Public Affairs,
Redwood Materials

As Director of Public Affairs & Government Relations, Morgan Crapps leads external affairs for Redwood Materials in the Southeast. Redwood Materials is developing a fully closed-loop, domestic supply chain for lithium-ion batteries. Redwood recycles, refines and remanufactures critical battery components using as many recycled batteries as possible – aiming to localize a 50,000-mile global battery supply chain on a single site. Redwood is headquartered in Nevada, where it is building its first battery materials campus. Redwood is building its second battery materials campus in Ridgeville, South Carolina. In South Carolina, Redwood plans to ramp up to 1,500 employees and will invest $3.5 billion at the campus over the next decade, producing enough battery components to power more than one million EVs per year. Prior to joining Redwood, Morgan was a principal at Parker Poe Consulting, where she led site selection and incentive negotiation projects for manufacturers across the country. She has also practiced law at a large regional law firm and served as a project manager and international business recruiter for the South Carolina Department of Commerce. She is a graduate of Clemson University and the University of South Carolina School of Law. She resides in Columbia, South Carolina with her husband (Jordan), daughters (Marshall and Annie) and dog (Rigby).

Robert Winans, Vice President of Supply Chain,
Panasonic Energy

Robert Winans leads fulfillment, strategic sourcing, purchasing and logistics at Panasonic Energy Co. North America, a Panasonic Group Company, a global leader in high-quality lithium-ion batteries. As the Vice President of Supply Chain, he develops strategic initiatives to promote a sustainable supply chain that supports the growth of Panasonic Energy of North America and leads to customer satisfaction. Robert brings global experience to his current role overseeing supply chain management as he continues to integrate sustainability into Panasonic's supply chain through strategic partnerships with OEMs who share the same commitment in their business practices. He is responsible for implementing strategic regional warehouses and working with OEMs to reduce the environmental impact of shipping batteries and optimize purchasing experience and lead time. Prior to joining Panasonic, Robert held senior executive leadership positions in supply chain, manufacturing, and procurement at global organizations including Electrolux, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, and Fiserv Incorporated. Under Robert’s leadership, he has developed and executed strategic supply chain transformation programs, orchestrated IT systems plans, digitized operations and more, leading to quarterly records for both shipment and EBIT. Robert holds a B.S. in Business Administration from University of Nebraska–Lincoln and an Executive Education in Technology, Operations and Value Chain Management from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. A lifelong learner, he is also Six Sigma Black Belt certified.

Colton Hotary, Director, Government Affairs,

Colton Hotary is the Director of Government and Corporate Affairs in LG’s Corporate Affairs office in Washington, DC. Mr. Hotary is LG’s only registered U.S. lobbyist, overseeing its government affairs engagement strategies with elected federal officials since joining the company in July 2023. Mr. Hotary leads LG’s engagement strategies with the U.S. Congress, administration, and government. Before joining LG Mr. Hotary was the Director of Government Affairs for Autos Drive America, the leading trade association representing international automakers U.S. operations. Mr. Hotary led the association's efforts on trade, transportation, energy, and labor policies at the state, federal, and international levels. Mr. Hotary spearheaded the association's legislative and political efforts during the Build Back Better and Inflation Reduction Act debates. Prior to Autos Drive America Mr. Hotary was the Director of Government Affairs at FLIR Systems, Inc., leading the company’s government affairs for its commercial business units, including its work in autonomous vehicles, drones, export controls, trade, and technology. Prior to FLIR, Mr. Hotary served as policy director and later director of government affairs for Public Strategies Washington, supporting Fortune 500 companies, governments, and association clients on issues relating to trade, financial services, defense, energy, transportation, technology, agriculture, and international affairs. Prior to joining PSW in January 2015, Mr. Hotary worked as a Regional Field Organizer for the New Hampshire Democratic Party during the 2014 election. While there he oversaw field operations for the eastern part of the state. His efforts helped to secure victories for Senator Jeanne Shaheen, Congresswoman Annie Kuster, Governor Maggie Hassan, and Executive Councilor Colin Van Ostern. Mr. Hotary earned his B.A. in Political Science and B.A. in International Relations from the University of Arkansas in 2011. He earned his M.A. in Political Science with an emphasis in Public Policy from the University of Arkansas in 2013. Mr. Hotary is a native Arkansan now living in Washington, D.C.

Steve Kosowski, Manager, Long Range Planning &; Strategy,
Kia

Steve Kosowski is Manager, Long Range Strategy & Planning at Kia North America (KNA). Steve’s responsibilities are mainly focused on EV product planning and portfolio strategy, EV infrastructure, and pre-sale regulatory compliance, including ZEV (Zero Emissions Vehicles) compliance, but also some CAFÉ and GHG matters. Steve joined Kia in November 2005 and brings 30+ years of automotive strategy experience to KNA. He joined Kia from Nissan North America, and also worked for Honda and Mitsubishi Motors in product planning and market research departments. Steve has worked on numerous of vehicle programs and strategies at Kia, most recently the EV6, and also helped define and implement Kia’s U.S. electric vehicle strategy and related peripheral elements. Steve is originally from Chicago, Illinois. He earned his Bachelor of Business Administration at Northwood University in Midland, MI, and a Master of Business Administration from California State University, Long Beach. Steve’s career in the automotive industry stems from his passion for automobiles and interest in the industry. Steve resides in Orange County, where he enjoys spending time with his wife, cycling (MTB, and road), reading, and traveling from time-to-time.

Josh Cohen, Head of Policy,
Swtch Energy

Josh leads the Policy Team for SWTCH, a leader in end-to-end EV charging solutions for multi-tenant properties. In this role, Josh works with his colleagues to inform and shape the legislative and regulatory landscape for EV charging. His goals include expanding equitable EV charging, leveraging software-based smart charging, and delivering value to drivers, property owners, and the grid. Before joining SWTCH, Josh served in similar policy roles at Greenlots (now Shell Recharge Solutions), SemaConnect (now Blink), and the Business Network for Offshore Wind (now Oceantic). Josh’s prior public sector experience includes serving as mayor of Annapolis, Maryland, and as deputy administrator of the USDA’s Rural Utilities Service (RUS). Josh earned an M.S. in Energy Policy and Climate from Johns Hopkins University and a B.A. in Economics from the University of Maryland.

Dennis Carter, Director of Sales, EV Charging,

Dennis Carter is a sales leader of North America for the business-business division of global innovator LG Electronics. He is the Director of Sales for LG Business Solutions USA, the B2B arm of LG Electronics USA. Building on over two decades of experience in the electric vehicle space, he leads the LG sales team in the United States for electric vehicle charging stations. Carter started his career in the electric vehicle space with E-Z-GO a division of Textron leading sales for electric golf cars and LSV (low speed vehicles). He transitioned from the automotive space to EV Charging and lead channel sales for ChargePoint for about 5 years before moving to LG Electronics to lead the EV Charger division. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Consumer Economics from The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio.

Hilary Cain, Senior Vice President, Policy,
Alliance for Automotive Innovation

Hilary oversees policy development on technology and future mobility issues, including regulation of connected and automated vehicles, data privacy, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and telecommunications. Prior to joining Auto Innovators, Hilary spent nearly 8 years as Director of Technology and Innovation Policy at Toyota and almost a decade working in the U.S. House of Representatives. She holds a J.D. and a M.A. in Public Affairs from the University of Texas and a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Washington. In June of 2020, Hilary was recognized as a Rising Star in the automotive industry by Automotive News for her work at the forefront of emerging technology policy.

Mathew Nelson, Director Energy Policy,
Walmart

Matthew Nelson is the Director of Energy Policy for Walmart. He previously served as Director of Government Affairs for Electrify America, where he was the 5th employee. Matt was appointed Chief of Staff of the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) by President Obama. Earlier in his career, Matt served as U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein’s Senior Policy Advisor for Energy, Transportation, and Climate Change; and as lead Energy and Environment staff to Congressman Tom Allen (D-ME), a member of the U.S. House Energy and Commerce Committee. Matt earned a Master of Arts in Law and Diplomacy from the Fletcher School (Tufts University) and a B.A. from Dartmouth College. Matt lives with his family in Northern Virginia.

Terry Travis is the managing partner and co-founder of EVNoire –an award-winning mobility technology group working at the intersection of electric, connected, shared, and autonomous vehicle technology. He utilizes his expertise to integrate E-Mobility best practices and E-Mobility diversity, equity, and inclusion in the transportation sector. John Jarrard is the Director of State & Local Government Affairs with AHLA. He represents 6 states in the Southeast, which include Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, the Carolinas, and Alabama. Before joining AHLA in 2021, John was the Manager of Government Affairs with The Hudson Group, one of the top government strategies firms in the state of Georgia. John is a graduate of the University of Georgia and currently resides in Atlanta.

Dr. Shelley Francis, Managing Partner,

Dr. Shelley Francis, a former medical school faculty member, is a public health executive, tech entrepreneur, and transportation disruptor. Dr. Francis is the co-founder and Managing Partner at EVNoire. EVNoire is a tech company focused on electric, connected, shared, and autonomous e-mobility solutions. EVNoire’s work focuses on two pillars: E-Mobility Best Practice and E-Mobility Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. The EVNoire team specializes in providing business solutions to enhance electrification and decarbonization strategies for utilities, nonprofits, auto manufacturers, charging infrastructure manufacturers, municipalities, transit systems, government agencies, public health organizations, and regional and national organizations, rideshare and delivery network companies to expand this market share. She is often featured in national news and journals and publications such as the Baltimore Sun, Columbus Times-Dispatch, Energy News, Forbes, and more. Dr. Francis has been recognized as one of the top Global Women in EVs; she was also featured in the Progressive Change Institute’s report of the top 400 candidates recommended for the Biden-Harris Administration; and she was identified by movmi and Sandra Phillips as one of their top Mobility Leaders. Dr. Francis was the first African American National Board Director for the Electric Vehicle Association, she is a Board member for Greenzbiz’s Transport Advisory Board and Cruise Social Impact Advisory Council and serves as a Board member for the University of Richmond’s Alumni Association.

Gustavo Arce is a sustainability expert leading research projects at EVNoire / EVHybridNoire. He has driven business development growth and partnerships at various cleantech companies in the state of Georgia. His advocacy includes leadership roles with the Georgia Solar Energy Association and the Georgia Sierra Club. Gustavo is fluent in Spanish, and is passionate about sustainable building and electrification.

Nick Steingart, Director, State Affairs,

Prior to joining the Auto Innovators, Nick represented multiple national trade associations in front of policymakers at the state and local level. His work in state and local politics spans over a decade, and experience prior to representing industry trade association’s includes work in the Florida House of Representatives and state legislative campaigns across the country. He graduated from Florida Gulf Coast University with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, and from Florida State University with a Masters of Applied American Politics and Policy.

Michael Rowand, Senior Advisor,
Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI)

Mike Rowand is an energy industry leader in the transition to electric transportation, including the adoption of medium & heavy-duty vehicles. For over 15 years Mike has been on the forefront of utility research and planning for EVs and has held leadership positions in multiple industry groups that influence Electric Transportation and Distributed Energy technologies. He has almost 40 years’ experience in the electric utility industry in a variety of roles including Emerging Technology, Transmission and Distribution Engineering, Customer Service, Rates and Regulatory processes, and Marketing. Mike is a Sr. Advisor to the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) and provides consulting services to companies across the EV ecosystem.

Josh Fisher, Senior Director, State Affairs,
Alliance for Automotive Innovation

Josh Fisher is a Senior Director of State Affairs at the Alliance for Automotive Innovation and has more than 15 years of state government affairs experience. During that time, he has worked with all levels of policymakers at the state and local level. Josh has been with Auto Innovators since its inception and was previously with the Association of Global Automakers since 2016. Josh joined Global Automakers after more than a decade of work at State Associates where he helped lead Stateside Associate’s Healthcare Issue Management Practice and advised clients on health care policy and a wide range of state and local government issues. Past experience also includes work in the Maryland General Assembly, in the U.S. Department of Labor’s Directorate of Construction, and as a law clerk in the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Maryland. Josh graduated magna cum laude from the University of Baltimore School of Law and is a member of the Maryland Bar. He holds a B.A. in economics from Washington & Lee University.

Craig Orlan, Director of State and Local Government Affairs,
Honda

Craig Orlan is the Director of State and Local Government Relations at the American Honda Motor Company. Craig joined Honda’s Government Relations office in 2012 where he oversees the company's legislative affairs, advocacy and public policy efforts before state and local governments. His portfolio includes issues surrounding vehicle safety, zero emission vehicles, consumer privacy, intellectual property, vehicle franchise law and cyber-security. For the past several years Craig has led an industry wide effort to enact legislation in the states to address the proliferation of dangerous counterfeit and nonfunctional airbags. To date, thirty-six states have enacted his model legislation, which has been endorsed by multiple public policy organizations and other industry groups. He is also leading an effort to improve recall completion rates in the states by engaging with motor vehicle commissions and inspection stations. Prior to joining Honda, Craig spent four years at a leading legislative tracking and consulting firm where he supported the state and federal government affairs efforts of multiple corporate, association and non-profit clients. Before entering the private sector, Craig gained legislative experience serving as a Legislative Director in the Maryland House of Delegates for three sessions.  Craig holds a Bachelor of Arts degrees in Government and Politics from The University of Maryland, College Park.

Wayne Weikel, Vice President, State Affairs,
Alliance for Automotive Innovation

Wayne has been with Auto Innovators since its inception in 2020 and was previously with the Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers since 2012. In his role as Vice President of State Government Affairs, he oversees a team of 4 regional directors and a nationwide network of in-state lobbyists. Wayne leads the association’s engagement with governors, state legislators, and other advocacy/policy organizations on a diverse portfolio of public policy topics of interest to member companies. Wayne formerly served as a board member of the OEM Collision Parts Roundtable, an auto industry group formed to advocate on behalf of consumer interests in post-accident vehicle repairs. Before moving to Washington, Wayne worked for 11 years in the Massachusetts State House, most recently as Chief of Staff and Policy Director of the House Committee on Ways and Means. In this capacity Wayne was responsible for leading the development of the state’s $27 billion annual budget. Prior to that, Wayne spent time on the Joint Committee on Financial Services as Chief of Staff and Policy Director for current Speaker of the House, Ronald Mariano. In this role, Wayne was part of the negotiating team that produced Massachusetts’ landmark 2006 Health Reform law, and also led legislative efforts to deregulate the automobile insurance industry. Throughout the years, Wayne has been involved with countless political campaigns, including work at the local, state, Congressional, and Presidential levels. Wayne received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and History from Bridgewater State University, in Massachusetts. Wayne lives in D.C. with his wife, Kristy.

Curt Augustine, Senior Director, State Affairs,
Alliance for Automotive Innovation

Curt has been with Auto Innovators since its inception and was previously with the Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers since 2009. Curt serves as the Auto Innovators’ chief legislative representative before policymakers in the Western United States and works with our members to formulate policy-based strategies for legislative and regulatory issues. Previous to joining the auto industry, he served as Deputy Legislative Secretary to Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and was responsible for legislation related to transportation, business, financial, economic development, and local government issues. Additionally, Curt served for eight years in the Gov. Pete Wilson Administration in various executive capacities and has also headed a construction industry non-profit association tasked with workforce development policy issues.

Tim Echols, Vice-Chair,
Georgia Public Service Commission (DPU)

Tim Echols regulates energy for Georgia.  He has had 7 EVs and is driving a Nissan LEAF today. He also heads the EV Braintrust for the state. 

Andrew Cornelia, President, and CEO,
Mercedes-Benz HPC North America

Andrew Cornelia, a dynamic and visionary leader in the electric vehicle charging industry, currently serves as the President & CEO of Mercedes-Benz High-Power Charging. In this capacity, he is spearheading Mercedes-Benz $1 Billion investment into a North American charging network aiming to significantly advance the company’s electrification strategy. Since launching in 2023, Andrew has positioned the network as a preeminent player in the charging industry, securing high-value partnerships with national brands and creating innovative customer benefits. Before his current position, Andrew was the VP and Head of Corporate Strategy & Development at Volta Charging and held influential senior leadership positions at Tesla’s Global Charging business unit. Additionally, Andrew is the Founder and Managing Partner at Arcform, LLC, and holds board advisory roles a Bluedot, eDRV, and Vyntelligence where he continues to steer the future of mobility.

Dave Schwietert, Chief Government Affairs and Policy Office,

David Schwietert is the Chief Policy Officer at the Alliance for Automotive Innovation. With the broad membership of Auto Innovators, Mr. Schwietert works to develop intelligent solutions that advance the Association’s legislative and regulatory agenda when it comes to a cleaner, safer, and smarter future. Before joining the Alliance for Automotive Innovation, David Schwietert was the interim President and CEO of the Alliance for Automobile Manufacturers. Prior to joining the Auto Alliance in 2015, Mr. Schwietert worked in the U.S. Senate for over 15 years and held various policy positions, including staff director of the U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation.

Mike Robinson, Vice President of Grid Transformation,
Georgia Power

Mike Robinson serves as the Vice President of Grid Transformation, Power Delivery for Georgia Power. In this role, Mike leads an organization responsible for distribution and transmission planning, administration of the Georgia Integrated Transmission System, data analytics and fiber strategy, and Power Delivery compliance. Mike works with multiple organizations to identify our long-term transmission and distribution strategies to address our future needs. He actively engages with system and industry partners to appropriately identify industry-wide solutions, alternatives, and emerging technologies. Mike has comprehensive experience across Power Delivery and the Georgia Integrated Transmission System. Since joining in 1989, Mike has served in various roles across the system, starting off at Georgia Power as a co-op student. After leaving the company to serve in the United States Navy, he worked for a progressive municipality in south central Texas for six years focusing on distribution engineering and substation maintenance. In 1999, he returned to Southern Company as a Power Quality engineer with Alabama Power. Since then, he has held numerous positions in Power Delivery, including multiple leadership positions in Planning, Transmission Maintenance, Operations and Distribution. In 2018, Mike served as the lead for our Super Bowl preparedness efforts working with the NFL and Department of Homeland Security and has testified at the Georgia Public Service Commission during our 2019 and 2022 IRP and rate case proceedings. Mike earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Auburn University and is a registered professional engineer in the state of Texas. Mike and his wife, Johnna, live in Roswell, GA and have four college age boys, Zach, Christian, Jake, and Seth.
